In response to an increase in residents expressing interest in helping the community, the DLCA Board of Directors along with our Aquatic & Event Director have begun a
DAVIS LAKE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM.

An endless number of opportunities are presented to allow all residents the opportunity to pursue a broad range of personal interests. For residents who are flexible in their involvement, we will now be maintaining a General Roster of Volunteers with personal preferences to include as many residents as possible.

There is no obligation to signing up, it only helps the Board and Community Director understand your interests!! Your involvement in this program will help Davis Lake maintain it’s position as the PREMIER COMMUNITY OF NORTHEAST CHARLOTTE. It will include frequent exposure to the Community and the Board, social opportunities, and opportunities to celebrate our accomplishments and key volunteers!

The following list of Volunteer Committees are being presented for immediate involvement.

General Roster
Volunteers who are flexible in fulfilling the needs of the community

Women’s Club
Consider revitalizing the Davis Lake Women’s Club
Develop Charter and Scope of Activities
Encourage Greater resident involvement in community activities
Organize “special purpose” events

Sunshine Club
Support for Davis Lake families experiencing changes/hardship such as:
Financial/Loss of Job
New baby
Loss of a loved one
Elderly companionship
Schedule meals, seek donations, run errands – endless opportunities

Political Action Committee
Monitor rezoning opportunities
Monitor school zoning opportunities
Lead resident activity in the interest of the community
Become a strong voice for Davis Lake in the District
Contribute and provide leadership to NE Coalition, Derita-Statesville Association, and other political action groups

“Go Green”
Educate community on environmental concerns
Advocate energy conservation within Davis Lake
Hold open forum discussions on environmental issues
Challenge Davis Lake to be leaders of environmental interests in Charlotte/Mecklenburg County

Charity
Consider creation of a Davis Lake Foundation for an annual giving campaign
Organize and review applications for community causes
Annually select causes for investment of time/resources
Hold various fund raisers throughout the year in the interest of community giving
Organize Davis Lake volunteer teams to contribute to local volunteer opportunites such as:
(Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, Humane Society, etc

Social
Develop social calendar
Focus on diversity of events to include all residents
Plan and execute events
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers as necessary

Beautification
Lake cleanup
Common Area Cleanup
Organize “mass flower plantings” across all Davis Lake neighborhoods
Recommend changes to landscape, building appearances

Financial
Recommend budget
Assess spending opportunities
Recommend financial products to leverage in the interest of the community (methods for funding projects, etc)
Recommend/audit financial processes and controls (cash control, expense process, etc)

Safety and Security
Perform safety/security reviews
Make safety/security recommendations
Liaison to community officer
Liason to hired police
Report to community on criminal activity
Develop and communicate emergency preparedness and evacuation plans
Neighborhood Watch Program
Develop “Civil Service Appreciation” events in Davis Lake for Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical Professionals

Consumer Advocacy
Develop and maintain “Angie’s List” style provider directory with ratings
Leverage group pricing on behalf of the residents
Lead action committees on topics of interest (masonite siding, etc)
Drive forums as necessary to discuss community needs
Work with local merchants for Davis Lake appreciation/loyalty programs
Encourage sponsorship of Davis Lake events by local merchants/businesses

Communications Committee
Design, publish, and manage Website
Design, publish, and distribute Communique
Ensure consistency of Davis Lake information and image
Propose year over year improvement in communication cost and quality

DLARC – Davis Lake Architectural Review Committee
Provide architecture standards to homeowners (based on neighborhood Covenants Rights and Restrictions documents)
Review and approve or decline architecture change requests
Periodically review and recommend architecture standards updates for DLCA Board approval
